MATCH CARDS AND MATCH REPORTS

MATCH CARDS or TEAM SHEETS for 2009 SEASON

A pre-printed match card with players name and ID numbers will be emailed to the team manager prior to the first game of the season. As a manager you will be required to complete the following details:

* all players borrowed from other Queens Park teams must be entered by hand on the match card/team sheet. His/Her "real" team name and division should be recorded in the signature column. (players can only be borrowed from a lower division or from the age-group directly below your age-group ie NOT 2+ years below)
* shirt numbers of each player (under 6, 7, 8 and 9 excepted)
* name of team
* age group and division
* location
* date
* referee's signature
* name and ID number of manager or coach on RTO line, and to sign at the end of the game.

Team sheets are to be handed to the referee prior to kick off. When the referee has entered all the details on the match card, the R.T.O. is to check the result and take note of any cautions or send-offs.

For information about submitting the match card scroll down below to after the instructions about MyScore.

myScore REPORTING SYSTEM USING MOBILE PHONES

It is necesary to report results for each of your matches before Sunday 5pm on each weekend. We are proud that David Walker, a committee member of the our club, has developed MyScore. This is an automated system that collects results reported by mobile phone.

We have 13 senior, 56 junior mixed, and 11junior girls teams. In previous seasons the club competition secretary who is a volunteer was required to manually retrieve, compile and report the results. This took about three to four hours each week.

Reporting Match Results with myScore

24 March 2006

Our club will use the 'myScore' service to collect match results each week. This guide provides the key considerations for using myScore. Print this and keep it handy for match day.

What you should know to lodge results with myScore:

· Your club will register your mobile number with the myScore system. Once, registered, you will receive a "Welcome" SMS and e-mail. Do not use another mobile to lodge results.

· Send your text SMS messages to 0408 408 241 . Do not place voice calls to this number as it is connected to a computer and cannot receive voice calls.

· When you SMS your results, myScore will reply with a confirmation email. If you notice that you are not receiving myScore reply e-mails, contact d.walker@myitpeople.com.au to investigate.

· Place YOUR TEAM'S SCORE FIRST regardless of who is the home team.

• Add Y or N after score to tell us if you had a referee or not. For example, lodge a result such as “3 0 Y”. This meant that the team won three nil and a referee turned up. If a ref did not show, you would lodge a message such as “3 0 N”

· Do not add any extra information to your text message. myScore is an automated system and additional information will cause your message to be rejected. For instance "Hi, 11G here, we won 3-0 vs Tigers" will be rejected by the system and a score will NOT be lodged. You do not need to say what team you are in because the computer has already matched your mobile tel. no. with your team.

· If you have lodged in error, re-send the correct result with the appropriate date. Sending with a different date will add a new match result.

· You MUST lodge a result whether you win, lose, draw, bye, cancel or forfeit.

· To avoid a fine, our Club must finalise results by Monday morning. So, PLEASE remember to SMS your score BEFORE Sunday 5:00pm.

Lodging results on match day:

This is the preferred method as there is less work for you and the results are received early. Try to get in the habit of texting before you leave the field. Examples of lodging results on match day:

· "3 0" - Your team played today and won three-nil.

· "0 3" - Your team played today and lost nil-three.

· "WF" - You won by Forfeit today.

· "LF" - You lost by forfeit today.

Tell us if you had referee

• Add Y or N after score to tell us if you had a referee or not. For example, lodge a result such as “3 0 Y”. This meant that the team won three nil and a referee turned up. If a ref did not show, you would lodge a message such as “3 0 N”

Lodging results after match day:

To lodge your result after match day, you must include a date in your text message. When including a date, ensure that you use the full 6 digits. Correct examples of lodging after match day are:

· "110205 3 0" - Your team won three-nil on 11/2/2005.

· "110205 BYE" - Your team had a bye on 11/2/2005.

If you are manager for more than one team:

myScore determines your team based on your mobile number. If you are the manager for more than one team you must include the correct team code as follows:

· "8B 0 3" - You are a manager of more than one team, and your 8B team lost nil-three today.

Byes, Forfeits and Cancellations:

"BYE" Your team had a bye

"WF" Your team won by forfeit

"LF" Your team lost by forfeit

"CAN" Your game is officially cancelled on the fixture. Never to be replayed.

"010605 PW" Your game originally scheduled for 01/06/2005 is officially postponed (deferred).

"010605 PF" Your game that was postponed from 01/06/2005 earlier in the season, has now been played and finalised. When you eventually play a match that was postponed, you will need to send in two messages; a 'PF' message with the original match date and a 'normal' myScore message with the actual match date to lodge the actual score.

Two matches on the one day:

To lodge two results on the same day, you must include a kick-off time with your result. Use the 24 hour clock and four digits as follows:

· "110205 0935 3 0" - Your team won three-nil on a match starting at 9:35 am on 11/2/2005.

· "110205 1430 0 3" - Your team lost three-nil on a match starting at 2:30 pm on 11/2/2005.

Avenues for Support:

SUBMITTING MATCH CARDS

Senior teams hand their match cards to the referee.

Junior teams have no such joy. If your team wins or draws at home it is then the team manager's responsibility to take both match cards from the referee. Yes, collect the match card submitted by the opposing team PLUS your team's match card. Make sure the referee signs the cards after filling in the scores. Make sure you sign your match card and the manager of the opposing team signs her/his card. It is then the club committee's responsibility to collect match cards from all games we have won or drawn at home and send them on to the Eastern Suburbs Soccer Football Association (ESSFA). Rick Flowers is a volunteer parent who collects the match cards from a box that he leaves in the pizza restaurant on Darley Rd, opposite our home ground and the playground. The box is clearly marked and is on the floor next to the ATM machine in the restaurant. Rick will collect the cards on Sunday evenings by 7pm.

PLAYER/COACH/MANAGER (R.T.O.) CARDS
RTO - registered team official
ID - identity card

Each player is issued with an ID card at the beginning of the season. Only players who are registered with ESSFA can play. No card, no play! This is to ensure that all club members are eligible for accident support during training sessions and matches and that players play in the correct age-groups. Players may play up a year or a division, but are not allowed to play down. For more detailed information please refer to the ESSFA RTO Handbook that can be found at www.essfa.com documents - RTO Handbook.

The team's manager or coach should hold the player's ID cards for each junior player in their team. The manager or coach must show the cards to the opposing team or referee on demand. Senior players hold their own cards, and must show these to the referee before playing.

FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THE ACCIDENT SUPPORT PROGRAM, PLEASE SEE RULES AND POLICIES.

Coaches and Manager - RTO'S (Registered Team Official) should have ID cards

Each team's manager and coach must register with ESSFA as a Registered Team Official (RTO). Registration is free for a RTO and includes cover with the Accident Support Program. RTO forms forms (2, PED and Working with Children Check) can be downloaded from 'Registrations'. Coaches and managers should carry their RTO card during games because, in the event of a dispute, the referee or opposing team officials may demand identification. For more detailed information please refer to the ESSFA RTO Handbook that can be found at www.essfa.com documents - RTO Handbook or contact your age-coordinator.

MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT

Seven years ago I registered my boy to play soccer for Queens Park Soccer Club. I remember an excitable man who was then club president herding those parents who did not know any one else under a tree. Other parents declared that their children wanted to play in the groups they had already formed. We were the loose ends. The club president explained to us that we had to elect from among us a coach and manager. We all looked uncomfortably at the ground avoiding taking on such responsibility. I think it was David Ghezelbash's mother who dobbed her husband in. 'Jim can coach. He has a coaching licence.' And he agreed. In fact, we discovered shortly after that Jim had been a member of the Iranian national soccer team! The club president then asked, 'who was going to communicate with all the parents about training sessions, match times, uniforms, and report match results?' Silence. Jim said, 'we need a team manager.' I volunteered.

My boy has enjoyed his soccer immensely. As a six year old he thought I was pretty important because I was the team manager. I am not sure what he thought that meant. Anyway, that was good enough for me.

I am grateful to the various parents who have made my childrens' soccer experience so positive. I have already mentioned Jim Ghezelbash who coached Jesse's team for two years. Mark Bryant coached his team for the next three years. He would study coaching manuals and work out training drills. I am grateful not just because Mark gave so generously of his time. I am grateful for the high expectations he placed on the players. I am grateful to Mark Cadman who managed Bryant's team in 2003 and 2004. A manager collects, looks after, and presents at each match, the players' ID cards. He or she reports the results of each match to the club's competition secretary. And the manager facilitates communication within the team. I will not pretend that it was always harmonious. Parents and players were not always happy with the actions of the coach and manager.

In the 2005 season my 11 year old son played for an 'elite under 11 squad' of players who represented the eastern suburbs in a Sydney metropolitan league. Selection trials are held at the end of each season for squads of boys and girls from under 11 upwards and are open to all players, irrespective of what grade they played at a particular club.

In 2006 two of my daughters will play as will my wife in the over 35 Women's team.

COACH - ROLE DESCRIPTION

The coach is responsible for training and selecting the team for matches. The coach should negotiate training times with the players and either the Seniors or Juniors Committee. We expect coaches, managers and players to talk, at length, at the beginning of the season about the approach to be taken to selecting players for matches. The coach has a responsibility to try and give all players a rewarding season and likewise players have a responsibility to help the coach field competitive teams. They

•  co-ordinate the training sessions

•  decide about players, positions and strategies for matches.

TEAM MANAGER - ROLE DESCRIPTION

Each team requires a manager (a volunteer). It is up to the players in the case of Seniors, and for Juniors the parents, to appoint a manager. Of course, it helps when a few players, parents and friends pitch in and offer to share some of the tasks. In short, they are responsible to:

    · liaise with the uniform and equipment steward and pick up the training kit and shirts

    · draw up and circulate a list of all players with contact details

    · organize putting up and taking down of goal nets, corner flags and crowd control ropes for each match

    · complete and submit official score cards for each match and report results each week to the Competition Secretary

    · look after the player ID cards and present them to the opposing team for scrutiny at each match

    · help the coach by communicating to players about training times, match times, social events etc.

    · collect money from each team for a security deposit per team for shirts and fines

    · arrange rosters for giving players refreshments during half-time at matches

    · facilitate discussion among players to resolve disputes

    · organise team photos

    · co-ordinate the collection of money and signatures from team players or/and parents to purchase a present and card for the team coach.

ROLE DESCRIPTIONS OF THE OTHER TASKS REQUIRED TO SUPPORT PLAYERS

The respective Committees for Juniors and Seniors have the responsibility and authority to:

  • recruit players, coaches, managers, Age Co-ordinators, committee members, and other volunteers to carry out the various tasks necessary to enable the formation and registration of teams in competitions recognised by Football NSW.

  • set player registration fees, authorise payments, monitor and report on income and expenditure
  • together with ESFA organise training and match grounds
  • manage uniforms, gear and equipment. The Executive Committee will acquire uniforms.

Goalkeeper Coaches

At senior and junior level, we have requests for two or three specialist training sessions over a season exclusively for goalkeepers. Can you recommend people within the club to do this?

Equipment and Uniform Chief Stewards

vacant, but currently undertaken by Julius Kohazy for Seniors (is also Seniors Vice President) and Mark Bryant (is also club treasurer and Junior Coaching Co-ordinator) for Juniors. There are currently no ASSISTANTS .

You will co-ordinate the acquisition, storage and distribution of:

  • club uniform shirts, shorts and socks
  • club tracksuits and coaches' shirts
  • club bags
  • balls, training cones and ball bags
  • goal nets, corner flags, and crowd ropes.

Ideally, you will be able to recruit people to help with various tasks. These can include:

ACQUIRING STOCK

We have well over 1,300 players in the club.

STORING AND STOCKTAKING

The club has storage rooms in Bondi Junction. Can you assist with stock-taking and shelving? Najib Lawand (a junior coach and parent) generously donated additional storage space in Alexandria.

BLOW UP SOCCER BALLS

Can you assist use the club's electronic pump to blow up soccer balls at the beginning of season?

DISTRIBUTE STOCK

Can you assist distribute balls and shirts at the beginning of season?

KIT SALES AT BEGINNING AND DURING THE SEASON

At the beginning of season, arrange to sell shorts, socks, tracksuits and bags. And during the season are you willing to keep a box at your house with a selection of shorts and socks that players can buy from you? During the season we still get a small number of calls for replacement stock.

SUMMER COMP. UNIFORM AND EQUIPMENT CO-ORDINATOR/S

In summer, some members play either indoor soccer or in the ESFA six-a-side outdoor comp. The club may be in a position to lend its name, uniforms and balls but only if someone takes responsibility for:

•  collaborating with the winter comp. uniform and equipment co-ordinators

•  locates and stores necessary stock

•  collects bonds from teams for any stock that the club distributes

•  organises return of stock.

FIELD DRESSING - putting up and taking down nets, flags and ropes

Store during week and on weekends put up and take down goal nets, corner flags and crowd ropes.

FIELD DRESSING CARETAKER - offer a little storage space

Currently crowd ropes, goal nets and corner flags are kept in the front garden of our club sec. in Bondi Junction. She has offered her garden for the last three years. We would welcome an offer from other club members who live near Queens Park to be able to use some garden or porch space.

Senior Communication Co-ordinators (vacant)

Three years ago the club developed the capacity to communicate via e-mail with all our players. That is when we also developed a new club website. The seniors do not yet use it, but it is well utilised by the juniors.

Are you knowledgeable and skilled in web development and digital communication systems? Would you be willing to lend a little time to:

  • assisting the club secretary, club President, Seniors Vice-President improve the way players can communicate with each other and the club. This may mean developing some dedicated spaces on the club website and better e-mail network systems.
  • assisting the President improve the way she or he communicates with both senior and junior club members.

Assistant Treasurers

vacant, currently undertaken by Julius Kohazy (is also Seniors Vice President) and Mark Bryant (is also club treasurer, equipment steward and Coaching Co-ordinator) and Christin Hohne (is also club secretary, Juniors Registrar, book-keeper) for Juniors.

You are responsible for drawing up budgets, and monitoring income and expenditure. The club has two bank accounts - one for senior and the other for junior teams.

Registrars for Juniors and Seniors

vacant for Seniors, currently undertaken by Julius Kohazy ((is also Seniors Vice President)

for Juniors, currently undertaken by Christin Hohne

We have enjoyed ASSISTANTS for Juniors, but need some for Seniors

We are required to register players each season. This involves:

  • designing and preparing the forms each season
  • posting the forms on the club website
  • arranging copies of rego forms
  • getting players to complete forms
  • receiving payments
  • taking digital photos
  • checking and collecting copies of documents (drivers licence, passport, birth cert.) to prove age for over 35's and juniors
  • entering details in a database
  • liaising with the Association to get ID cards

Ideally, you will be able to recruit people to help with various tasks. These can include:

RTO AND ID PLAYER CARD COLLECTION DURING SEASON

Every Friday the club sec. drives to Botany (location of ESFA office) to collect player ID cards and outstanding RTO cards to ensure that everyone can play and enjoy a game of soccer on the weekend.

ENTER PLAYER DETAILS INTO DATABASE

The club may offer paid work for database entry work. Do you know someone who'd be interested to do this during February, March and April?

ASSIST HANDLING OF REGISTRATIONS

Our Vice President has done this single-handledly at Coogee Bowling Club for over 300 players for the last four years. Can you assist in February and March on one or two occasions? It involves sighting proof of age, checking all forms have been completed, and receiving payments, during sessions that last about two hours.

ASSIST WITH TAKING AND FILING OF DIGITAL PHOTOS

Each player will be issued with a photo-ID card. We already have photos of returning players. But we will need to take digital photos of new players.

Seniors Competition Secretary

vacant, currently undertaken by Julius Kohazy (is also Seniors Vice President)

Team managers of each senior team should e-mail or SMS their match results to the Seniors comp. sec. by 9am each Monday. In turn the comp. sec. should compile a report of all QP senior teams and e-mail that to the ESFA office by 11am on Monday mornings. Winning senior teams should also complete match cards and post them to ESFA each Monday.

Juniors Competition Secretary

vacant, currently undertaken by Rick Flowers (is also club President)

There are over 80 junior teams and we pay for an automated system (MyScore) to collate match reports. Team managers report results via SMS to the MyScore Server to which the comp. sec. has password protected access. Unlike the seniors, junior team managers cannot send in match results directly to ESFA. The club's competition secretary is required to collect the results so that ESFA receives just one report for all junior teams by 10am on Monday mornings.

ASSISTANT JUNIORS COMP. SEC. - SUPPORT MANAGERS WHO FORGET TO REPORT MATCH SCORES

vacant, currently undertaken by Rick Flowers (is also club President)

Each week a handful of team managers forget to report. Would you be willing to check the summary report and remind those managers who forget? A friendly phone call, SMS or e-mail message will do the trick.

JUNIOR COMPETITION SECRETARY - MATCH CARDS

vacant, currently undertaken by Rick Flowers (is also club President)

This task requires someone who has been a RTO for several seasons and has a good knowledge of the competition rules. Each week the club needs someone to place the QPSC collection box at the Darley Rd Cafe (opposite the Queens Park playground) by Saturday morning before the first game kick-offs at 9am and collect the box again on a Sunday between 5pm and 8pm. Go through every match card to ensure that nothing has been left off (ie player id number, shirt number for any competitive team, RTO name and RTO number, field, kick-off time etc etc.) and take a note about incomplete cards. Send an e-mail to the RTO's asking them to be more diligent next time when completing the cards. The match cards need to be sent by post to ESFA every Monday.

Myteam Journalism Co-ordinator

(vacant)

The club's website has a facility called MyTeam that allows players and parents - with password access - to post match reports and photos. It would be good to have one or two people to champion and manage the MyTeam facility. It may be an idea to organise some sort of competition or scheme for seniors and juniors to show off their budding sports journalism skills.

Grievance Officer for Seniors   (Chris Conway)

In most cases, grievances for seniors (and juniors) will be handled by the Association's judiciary committee. The Seniors Vice-President has, to date, been the first point of contact for managing grievances. But, in order to share the workload, we are looking for somone to take on this role. He or she will also occasionally represent the club when members are called before the ESFA judiciary committee. See club's grievance policy for details.

Grievance and Child Protection Officer for Juniors   (Chris Conway)

This role requires continual development of the club's policies, procedures and advice to handle child protection and grievance matters. New resources - websites, videos, books and posters - continue to be developed and the officer should advise club members how to obtain them. But more immediately, the person in this role will manage grievances and child protection issues. He or she will also occasionally represent the club when members are called before the ESFA judiciary committee. The person in this role should have experience in administering competitive sports, be mature, confident, have highly developed written skills, and experience in conflict resolution. Chris Conway has commenced in this position in 2007.

First-Aid and Para-medic Adviser (Chris Conway)

Can you advise teams about the procedures to follow in the event a player requires first-aid or paramedic treatment? Better still, can you negotiate a deal to have custom-made first-aid kits supplied at favourable cost?

Club Delegates at Monthly Association Meetings

Each month all the clubs are required to attend a meeting of the Association to learn about, discuss and decide on new rules and initiatives. There are currently three Councils that meet in the evenings for about one hour each month at the Botany offices of ESFA. The respective Councils are for:

  • men (Julius Kohazy, need one more delegate)
  • women (Jaleh Shafie, need one more delegate)
  • junior boys and girls (Peter Kriesler, need one more delegate; thanks to Jan Kain and Wayne Wheatley for being delegates in 2007).

We need one more delegate for each Council. Delegates should have extensive soccer experience with the Club, deep knowledge of the rules, and a commitment to representing the views of club members (as opposed to your own views). This role is interesting and enables you to meet officials from other clubs and gain an understanding of how the competition is run.

Seniors Vice-President (Julius Kohazy)

This position supports all men's and women's teams. To date, the Vice-President has acted as registrar, field dressing co-ordinator, digital communication co-ordinator, book-keeper and club delegate. If some of these roles, and the Age Co-ordinators, can be taken on by others, that will be a huge help for Julius.

Juniors Vice-President and Coaching Co-ordinator (Mark Bryant)

He or she will:

  • recruit and appoint coaches and managers
  • recruit Age Co-ordinators
  • co-ordinate selection of players in graded teams. This will be done with Age Co-ordinators and coaches.
  • encourage coaches to do Junior License courses.

SPONSORSHIP AND SOCIAL EVENTS WORKING PARTIES

At a team level there are numerous end-of-season social functions. In 2007 the Seniors convened one for all 20 teams at the Coogee Bowling Club.   But each season, members suggest there should be more. Ideas range from performing arts evenings, trivia nights, fun and novelty events, formal award functions, and excursions to Sydney FC matches. With the current small number of committee members, the club has not had the capacity to respond to these ideas. We welcome offers by club members to initiate and organise events. We can support working parties.

These types of events can help build club spirit and branding. In turn they lend themselves to being sponsored by local businesses. Perhaps sponsorship deals could be negotiated that not only cover the expense of the events, but support the club to pay for:

•  all coaches and managers to get club tracksuits and a club shirt

•  a strategic fund to enable the club negotiate partnerships with local governments or schools to get exclusive use of grounds and facilities.

Small Grant Applications

Occasionally there are small grant schemes the club can apply to. For example, the federal Department of Family and Community Services is currently inviting sporting clubs run by volunteers to apply for small equipment grants. See www.facsia.gov.au   Would you be willing to prepare draft applications on behalf of the club?

The EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE has the responsibility and authority to:

  • convene AGMs and other general meetings
  • enter into formal contract agreements
  • apply for and receive grants
  • continually develop policies, rules and procedures; including amendments to the constitution
  • engage consultants or staff
  • determine the nature of, and acquire supplies for, the club uniform
  • negotiate and manage major strategic partnerships mostly for the purpose of securing better grounds and facilities for players.

Club Secretary

The club sec.:

•  receives and handles all official correspondence. This includes liaison with ESFA about all matters, including fixture details.

•  post notices on club website about wet weather and ground closures and many other things

•  refers enquiries from prospective players to respective Age Co-ordinators and Registrars

•  answers enquiries from current players and refers them to various committee members where possible.

Treasurer

This position is responsible for drawing up budgets, monitoring income and expenditure, and organising payments.

Club President

This position is responsible for continually devising and managing structures and processes to enable the above tasks to be undertaken. This means consulting coaches, managers, players, parents, other clubs and ESFA. The president influences strategic directions; for example, playing an important role establishing new competitions for over 35 women and junior girls. The re-structuring of the club into separate Juniors and Seniors Committees will require us to prepare proposals to amend the club constitution. The president also has a responsibility to develop and implement strategies to educate members about football rules, policies and procedures. This sometimes requires 'putting out fires' and enforcing the rules.

THE REWARD OF HELPING, AND HOW TO DO IT

On one hand, the club can boast of enormous success in recruiting volunteers. In 2007, over 80 of our junior teams and more than half of the 20 senior teams had coaches and managers. And for over ten teams the coaches had no direct ties to the players. That means they were not parents or partners. They were people who approached the club and asked if they could have the opportunity to work with either a junior or senior team. Some are lawyers, college principals, entrepreneurs, television producers, engineers and finance traders.

Coaches and managers are the bedrock of the club. They make or break it. We are confident that most coaches and managers find it a deeply rewarding experience.

But there are other tasks that must be undertaken to support players in their matches and training sessions. And it is here the club has had only modest success. We're very approachable and keen to share these other tasks. You don't have to wait for the club's annual general meetings to stand for election to get involved. Contact either Julius, Christin or Rick at anytime to negotiate how you might help.

under 16 girls football (soccer) in 2008 at Queens Park Football Club
Dear players and parents,

I am pleased that Jools Dunn has agreed to coach a team again this season, and Steve Sherwood has agreed to be a team manager if his daugher Vonnie decides to play again. She is concerned she may not have sufficient time. In any case, we are anticipating that the club will form two under 16 girls teams this year. We expect about 15 girls in the 2007 G16's to return and about 10 girls from last year's G14's will join your age group. And then there will be a few new girls.

I plan to draw up a list by February 14th of:

* returning players who have registered to play in this year's G16's - have to register by Feb. 8th
* new players - have to register by Feb. 10th

Jools has agreed to be the Age Co-ordinator for the G16's. In this role he will draw up the two squads. We anticipate there will, as in 2007, be just one division for the G16's in the eastern suburbs and so we propose to not grade the QP teams. Please liaise with Jools about suggestions for which squad you or someone else should be in.

Jools has generously agreed to coach both squads till early March. We will try to recruit a second coach and second manager in this time.

The first training session and practice game will be at 3.30pm on Sunday 17th February. If there is interest there will probably also be a field available on Sunday 10th February but Jools will be enjoying himself at a wedding in Fiji!

The first trial games will be on Sunday 9th March against Macabi at Mackay Oval, Centennial Park (exact times yet to be decided). I am also trying to line up trial games against Balmain the following weekend.

The season starts on Sunday 30th March and goes to the end of July. If you make finals then you play into August.

If you are keen to enter into gala day competitions let Jools and Steve know.

Please check the club's website for details.

under 14 girls football (soccer) in 2008 at Queens Park Football Club
Dear players and parents,

You or your daughter played in the under 14's last year and may be playing again in the same age group this season.

We are anticipating that the club will form two under 14 girls teams this year. We expect about 15 girls in the 2007 G14's to return and about 10 girls from last year's G12's will go up an age group. And then there will be quite a few new girls. Should there be lots of new players we might form a third team.

I plan to draw up a list by February 14th of:

* returning players who have registered to play in this year's G14's - have to register by Feb. 8th
* new players - have to register by Feb. 10th

Peter Kriesler <p.kriesler@unsw.edu.au> has agreed to be the Age Co-ordinator for the G14's. In this role he will draw up the two or three squads. We anticipate there will, as in 2007, be two divisions. Dean Turnbull will coach the A team. Paul Dunn who coached G14's last year will be leading a G16 squad this season.

Dean and Peter will likely coach both squads till early March. We will try to recruit a second coach and second manager in this time.

Should you be happy to play in the B team and not want to participate in the trials that's fine; please let Peter <p.kriesler@unsw.edu.au> know. He will draw up the team lists. And we intend to organise training and practice games for you shortly.

Peter Kriesler <p.kriesler@unsw.edu.au> is planning the trials. Details will be confirmed shortly.

The first friendly games will be on Sunday 9th March against Macabi at Mackay Oval, Centennial Park (exact times yet to be decided). I am also trying to line up trial games against Balmain the following weekend.

The season starts on Sunday 30th March and goes to the end of July. If you make finals then you play into August.

Please check the club's website for details.

LETTER no. 2
under 14 girls football (soccer) in 2008 at Queens Park Football Club

Here are the details of the first training sessions and trials. In my first letter I said it is likely they will be on Sundays 10th, 17th and 24th February from 2pm to 3.30pm. The new details are:

* 4pm to about 5.15pm, Sunday 10th and 17th February will be training and orientation sessions
* 4pm to about 5.15pm, Sunday 24th Feb. and 2nd March will be trials and training

The first friendly games will be on Sunday 9th March against Macabi at Mackay Oval, Centennial Park (exact times yet to be decided). I am also trying to line up trial games against Balmain the following weekend.

The season starts on Sunday 30th March and goes to the end of July. If you make finals then you play into August.

regards

Peter Kriesler, Age Co-ordinator <p.kriesler@unsw.edu.au>
and Rick Flowers

under 12 girls football (soccer) in 2008 at Queens Park Football Club

Dear players and parents,

This letter is for those girls who will be staying in the under 12 age group.

I am unsure whether we will form one or two teams. The 10 year olds from last year will play in an under 11 competition so there is no influx there. In any case, I am confident we will have a terrific bunch of players. I plan to draw up a list by February 14th of:

* returning players who have registered to play in this year's G12's - have to register by Feb. 8th
* new players - have to register by Feb. 10th

With regards to who will coach..... Colin Lucre coached one team last year. I received a message that Madeline is in Noumea this year. So thanks to Colin for his efforts last year and we look forward to an invitation game over at Noumea. I'd like to step down from a front-line coaching role and play more of a team manager role. I am currently talking to one of our senior girls in the club who is an experienced player and referee. She is keen to take on a coaching role. We will probably team her up with Sally Paterson. Sally currently coaches an elite under 16 girls team in Sutherland. But she lives in Bondi Junction and wants to play a role in a local club. Sally may act an advisor to Georgie. If we form two teams then we will recruit another coach.

The first training sessions and trials will be on Sunday 17th and 24th February, from 2.30pm to 3.45pm.

Please check the club's website for details.

under 11 girls football (soccer) in 2008 at Queens Park Football Club

Dear parents,

Your daughter played in the under 10's last year and may be going up into the under 11 age group this season. We are anticipating that the club will form three under 10 girls teams this year. Should there be lots of new players we might form a fourth team.

Together with Christin I plan to draw up a list by February 14th of:

* returning players who have registered to play in this year's G11's - have to register by Feb. 8th
* new players - have to register by Feb. 10th

Trials will be held at 5.30pm to 6.30pm on Saturday 16th and 23rd February. I have asked all coaches with last year's G10's and Mark Bryant to be the selectors. Some girls may not want to try out for the 'A' team. In that case, please let Tino or Tom know. They can advise when training sessions will be.

The aim is to form squads by the end of February.

The first friendly games will be on Sunday 9th March against Macabi at Mackay Oval, Centennial Park (exact times yet to be decided). I am also trying to line up trial games against, and at, Balmain the following weekend.

The season starts on Sunday 30th March and goes to the end of July. If you make finals then you play into August.

Please check the club's website for details.
